Egg Procurement Director

This position is responsible for all aspects and functions related to corporate Egg Procurement and Sourcing.This position is located in Wakefield, NE.


  • Manage/Direct the short-term sourcing and scheduling of internal and external egg supplies to fulfill egg requirements for all EPC locations.
  • Research, collect and analyze data for effective egg sourcing decisions, both long and short term.
  • Knowledgeable with egg industry marketing and pricing relationships.
  • Manage/Direct long-term sourcing plan development and annual plan budgeting activities for egg requirements.
  • Manage/Direct procurement strategic planning initiatives.
  • Develop a complete understanding of procurement’s role and interaction with all functional and service areas within Michael Foods.
  • Have an understanding of egg production, transportation and egg processing operations.
  • Knowledgeable in grain risk management activities.
  • Complete and supervise special projects and other duties as assigned.

  • Must possess strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred in Accounting, Finance, or Economics with at least five (5) years experience.

  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communications skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the corporation.
  • Commodity risk management experience.
  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Able and willing to travel 20% to 30% .
  • Strategic Sourcing knowledge & experience.
  • Experience in supplier management, measurement and evaluation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced abilities in Excel.
  • Purchasing/Inventory Control working knowledge.
