Description

Position Summary:

Roaster Operators runs high speed automated roasting equipment and manage all aspects of the roaster. They verify usage of correct roasting peanuts, blending ratios, and temperature controls. They are responsible for ensuring that our peanuts are processed accordingly to quality and safety standards. This position plays an integral role in ensuring our product meets our customer expectations.

Schedule will be Sunday-Wednesday 5pm- 5am or Wednesday - Saturday 5pm- 5am

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Before start-up – checks all equipment and work areas to insure safety and sanitation conditions are correct and ready for use. Assembles and disassembles equipment for sanitation purposes.
  • Properly starts up and shuts down the peanut tote stations, conveyors, roaster, elevators, blanchers, sorter, dicers, and sifters. Properly starts up and shut bulk peanut filler station.
  • Selects appropriate raw material (peanut) for processing per customer specifications.
  • Checks for quality and cleanliness for raw materials.
  • Responsible for blending and roasting of peanuts to meet established requirements.
  • Checks and adjusts skin removal system for proper operation.
  • Directs and assists in the sanitation of the roaster area and roaster belt cleaning
  • Coordinates production activities with other departments to insure efficient operation of the plant
  • Maintains forklift certification and operates a forklift to supply the roaster with peanuts. Maintains and properly rotates inventory for proper FIFO
  • Properly maintains and documents CCP, daily production, and Quality data sheets.
  • Other duties, as assigned
  • Education and Experience Required:

  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Previous manufacturing experience
  • Mechanical aptitude to repair equipment
  • Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Must be able to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, and stoop for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to walk or stand for up to 12 hours per shift
  • Must be able to reach above shoulders and climb/work off ladder for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to work in a dusty environment, high heat, or humidity for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, push, pull, and feel for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken or written word
  • Must be able to make fine distinctions by sound
  • Must be able to distinguish object or equipment visually
