Job Details


Candidate will need to be able to maintain, diagnose/troubleshoot and repair a variety of electro-mechanical equipment in both processing and high-speed packaging. Candidate will also need to ensure that the roasting, blanching, and sorting processes deliver a timely, safe, and cost effective, quality product to support the Mission and Vision of 8th Avenue Foods and Provisions.

  • Fulfill the responsibilities required to achieve the Quality Commitment.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities as identified in the Performance Management Process.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities as identified in the Attendance Management Process.
  • Demonstrate commitment to teamwork by fostering an environment that embodies trust and respect.
  • Will be required to perform line changeovers and equipment set-ups
  • Planning, parts and tools identification and executing rebuilds of existing equipment or installation of new equipment.
  • Maintain, diagnose and repair electrical control and instrumentation
  • Work with automated and robotics systems, conveyors and processing equipment(i.e. roaster, mills, fillers, capper, labeller, case packer, bundle wrapper),auxiliary plant equipment such as air compressors, lighting, HVAC/Chiller units, glycol systems, truck docks, doors and general facility upkeep items. Set-up and calibrate various instrumentation (i.e. metal detectors, checkweighers, scales, feeders, temperature and flow transmitters
  • Required Education and Experience:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma or GED.
  • Certificate and 2 years of job-related experience are required.
  • Must pass electrical test
  • Expert knowledge of tools to conduct changeover of equipment within area is required.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and electrical wiring diagrams (construction and schematic)
  • Ability to install conduit and wiring
  • Must be able to repair and service automatic control devicessuch as photoelectric equipment, proximity switches, etc.
  • Must use safety equipment, safe methods, and sound judgement and be able to work without direct supervision.
  • Excellent mathematical skills are required.
  • Basic personal computer, corporate standard software, and applicable system skills are required
  • Fabricate parts as required/requested
  • PreventiveMaintenance of Forklifts
  • PreventiveMaintenance of Pallet Jacks
  • PreferredEducation and Experience:

  • Some college or continued technical training preferred
  • Good problem solving skills are required.
  • Good reasoning ability—common sense understanding to carry out instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Work Conditions:

  • Plant/Warehouse environment 100% of the time.
  • Exposed to noise, dust, cold, and heat at various times throughout the year.
  • Stair climbing is required. Capable of bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and lying on back working above body.
  • Capable of climbing ladders as tall as 30 feet
  • Crawling over, under and into equipment and standing for extended periods.
  • Repetitive lifting up to 50lbs; push/pulling up to 500lbs in tubs & performing repetitive twisting and bending.
  • Qualifications



    High School or better.


    Some college or better.

    Technical/other training or better.



    2 years:Certificate and job-related experience are required.
