Description

Position Summary:

The Director of Logistics is responsible for the warehousing and transportation functions across all 8th Avenue businesses. This position will provide strategic vision and leadership for these functions while taking a proactive approach to continuous improvement of the business. In addition, this position will participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing leadership of a robust Sales and Operations Planning process for the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads operations of the Logistics team including warehousing, transportation, and overall supply chain optimization functions.
  • Leads development and execution of TMS to support the transportation requirements of the 8th Avenue businesses.
  • Effectively leads team to manage Third Party warehousing and transportation contracts.
  • Develop and leads the optimization of the 8th Avenue Warehousing and Transportation Network.
  • Identify, communicate and implement supply chain cost management opportunities. Track ongoing operations and lead contingency activities whenever deviations outside of agreed upon tolerances are noted.
  • Develops and directs continuous improvement initiatives to meet internal operating company goals and customer expectations.
  • Resolves customer supply chain challenges through the coordination of internal and external resources including third party suppliers and vendors
  • Collaborates with sales and supply chain leadership and participants throughout the organization to share and enhance best practices.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert in the area of Logistics for M&A support and post-merger integration of both business and ERP processes.
  • Promotes a collaborative work environment to ensure low turnover and high levels of employee satisfaction.
  • Other duties as requested by the Senior Leadership team.
  • 20 - 40% Travel Required
  • Education and Experience Required:

  • BA/BS or equivalent work experience; MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Transportation and Warehousing
  • Logistics, Supply Chain Leadership, Engineering or equivalent combination of both education and experience with strong business knowledge and experience required
  • Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Familiarity with JD Edwards ERP system desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Power Point
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to make presentations, facilitate meetings, and provide training
  • Ability to lead and influence others without direct authority.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in the English language.
  • Qualifications

    Education

    Required

    Bachelors or better.

    Preferred

    Masters or better.

    Experience

    Required

    Logistics, Supply Chain Leadership, Engineering or equivalent combination of both education and experience with strong business knowledge and experience required,

    10 years:Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Transportation and Warehousing.

    Preferred

    Familiarity with JD Edwards ERP system desired.
