Henningsen Foods Inc. has been providing the food processing industry with specialty egg and meat products for over 100 years. Henningsen's longevity and success is due to the devoted effort and persistent initiative of employees in each department and plant. The Norfolk and Ravenna plants in Nebraska process and dry raw materials including chicken, beef, turkey, pork, fish, etc. to be sold to customers worldwide. Henningsen Foods was recently acquired by Michael Foods Inc., an operating company within Post Holdings Inc.

Summary:

Responsible for day-to-day supervision of an assigned team of employees who perform specific tasks as part of operations activities in a food-manufacturing environment. Responsible for communicating expectations, building accountability and delivering desired results in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and cost. Assures employees complete tasks in accordance with relevant company and legislative food safety and food quality requirements. *This is an hourly non-exempt position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports corporate strategy by assisting the development of team and individual goals, objectives, operational standards, and expectations for Safety, Quality and Productivity.
  • Builds collaborative partnerships within departmental lines to achieve departmental and team results.
  • Supports continued process improvement. Provides insight and ideas in encouraging others to try new approaches to solve day-to-day opportunities and key business issues.
  • Supervises a designated work group by fostering a culture of continued learning and development.
  • Assists employees in all daily functions including food safety, personal safety, product quality, GMPs, SSOPs and equipment operation. Performs job functions when employees are absent.
  • Drives individual accountability and ownership of results. Fosters accountability for direct reports in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Enforces compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Performs performance evaluations for employees at scheduled intervals.
  • Assists Safety Department in the investigation of accidents and injuries.
  • Understands business processes and executes direction based upon business priority and strategy under the guidance of management. Communication and Influence, Leadership, and Drive/Motivation.
  • Inspects all paperwork generated for production lots for any inconsistencies or deviations prior to production lot completion.
  • Perform equipment Pre-Operation and Operational Sanitation inspection on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • All other duties as assigned
  • WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in line operation and manufacturing practices strongly preferred. Previous leadership experience helpful.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, systems and tools, as well as productivity principles and practices preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of safe work practices and GMPs
  • Previous indirect experience with effective labor planning and scheduling
  • Must be able to maintain composure and manage all aspects of the job. Emotional stability, self-motivated and a willingness to take initiative. Must be able to maintain business-like attitude when dealing with management, employees, customers and other personnel. Ability to multi-task is very important.
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prepare and give written and oral instructions in English.
  • Fundamental mathematical skills.
  • Ability to understand the overall business operation and the impact of decisions, performance, and behavior.
  • Ability to effectively listen, offer solutions and resolve concerns/issues.
  • Ability to establish and shift priorities as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks and to work under time constraints to meet deadlines.
  • Food Industry experience a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, to include Word, Excel.
  • Proficient in Email Product, Google suite a plus.
  • Ability to work as a team leader as well as a team member building strong relationships across the organization.
  • Ability to handle Confidential and Sensitive matters.
  • Ability to sit and/ or stand for long periods of time. Ability to work on computers for long periods of time. Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Safety or Quality – preferred
  • High school diploma required
