We quickly grew to become the third largest pasta manufacturer in North America. Today, we are proud to be an 8th Avenue Food & Provisions company. We make over 150 pasta shapes from Acini de Pepe to Ziti Rigati in traditional, whole wheat, organic recipes and more! People across America and beyond enjoy our pasta daily in restaurants, at home and through convenience prepared meals.

Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Technician is a valuable role at Dakota Growers Pasta Company. Our quality technicians work directly with production employees, supervisors, and managers to sustain our food safety and plant safety culture. The Quality Technician role supports the Quality Manager and Quality Supervisor by verifying that food safety and quality practices are being applied from the beginning to the end of the manufacturing process. This is done through auditing, analytical testing, and training production employees.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine Food Protection audits throughout the facility.
  • Sample, inspect and test in-process, finished products, returned and reworked material for quality. Determine final. disposition on inspected products. Apply appropriate disposition through our ERP software.
  • Perform verification and training of Process Preventative Controls.
  • Allergen testing and verification.
  • Enter data to generate COAs for customers.
  • Verify food safety and quality criteria are met before releasing product for shipping.
  • Ensure raw materials are appropriately identified and released before use in production through Redzone software.
  • Support and facilitate audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Perform Environmental Monitoring including swabbing. Submit samples to outside lab for analysis, conducts follow-up and investigation.
  • Actively participate in and promote our safety culture by following safe work practices and adhering to all safety policies. and procedures. Responsible for reporting all incidents, accidents and observations of unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Report out-of-specification results, negative trends, or unusual events to Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Support scheduled quality assurance functions such as water sampling, mock recall, equipment calibration, record keeping and housekeeping functions, document review, etc.
  • Review production records and batch sheets for completeness.
  • Support sanitation and pest management program.
  • Assist the R&D and Commercialization team with sales and customer sample request program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Education and Experience Required

  • One-year experience in quality assurance, quality control and/or laboratory experience
  • High school Diploma
  • Proficient Computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and FSMA
  • Preferred Education, Skills and Certification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field
  • SQF Certification or willing to get certified upon hire
  • PCQI Certification or willing to get certified upon hire
  • Physical Requirement

  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for 4+ hours
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

    Qualifications

    Education

    Required

    High School or better in General or related field.

    Experience

    Required

    Must have experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint)

    Preferred

    Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in food related field. (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, etc.) or 2 years Quality Assurance experience in lieu of education.
