Our heritage stems back to the early 1990s when over 1,100 entrepreneurial farm families built our state-of-the-art durum mill and pasta manufacturing plant. We quickly grew to become the third largest pasta manufacturer in North America. Today, we are proud to be an 8th Avenue Food & Provisions company. We make over 150 pasta shapes from Acini de Pepe to Ziti Rigati in traditional, whole wheat, organic recipes and more! Position Summary:

The Plant Manager sets the vision for our teams, and guides the plant’s manufacturing departments (production, packaging, warehouse, engineering and maintenance) to maximize asset return in the areas of throughput, quality, customer service and safety. To be successful in this role, a qualified candidate will need to effectively drive safety initiatives, identify and execute on continuous improvement initiatives, develop people, set clear objectives/expectations, and manage costs to ensure the greatest return for the business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with operations, EH & S, and quality functions to develop or interpret organizational objectives in financial, productivity, quality and safety metrics. Lead department management team by developing vision and team-specific objectives that ensure facility achieves overall key performance indicators
  • Leverage internal and external technical expertise to identify continuous improvement initiatives for Production, Packaging, Engineering & Maintenance, and Warehouse departments; develop vision and guide teams to achieve maximum asset output, ensuring the greatest return on investment
  • In partnership with the senior leadership, develop, design, plan, budget, and implement capital projects to improve throughput, quality, and safety
  • Assist the Director of Manufacturing with annual and quarterly budgeting processes, control plant operating budget
  • Report monthly plant KPI’s to senior leadership team
  • Partner with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, Commercialization, and Operations to develop and execute plans for the introduction of new product offerings
  • Ensure appropriate leadership and guidance is provided for department management team regarding people functions for the facility, including: employee safety, organizational design, talent selection, employee development, performance management, labor relations, and policy/regulatory compliance
  • Other duties, as assigned
  • Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business Management, or related field AND 10 years’ experience in plant leadership position
  • Previous team leadership experience in a food, beverage or consumer packaging environment
  • Previous experience forecasting, developing budgets, and developing metrics
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Previous experience with implementing behavior based safety programs
  • Demonstrated strategic planning experience
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including experience managing multiple high-priorities simultaneously
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Must be able to sit for 6+ hours per day
  • Must be able to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, stand, stoop, and walk for 3+ hours per day
  • Must be able to reach above shoulders, climb, and work off ladder for 3+ hours per day
  • Must be able to work in dusty, hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation for 6+ hours per day
  • Must be able to push, pull, and feel for 3+ hours per day
  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds for up to 3 hours per day
  • Must be able to wear a respirator, as needed
  • Must be able to express or exchange ideas by spoken or written word
  • Must be able to distinguish objects or equipment visually
  • Must be able to travel up to 10%
