DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for mixing feed rations according to direction of nutritionist and feed orders by location.
  • Responsible for understanding and communicating acceptable ingredient standards to mill employees, vendors and customers.
  • Monitors and conducts preventative maintenance as needed, along with sanitation of feed mills. This includes addressing maintenance needs with Farm Manager, with regard to ordering and or replacement of equipment, or related items. Maintains the mills in a professional appearance.
  • Assists in all repairs, maintenance and housekeeping of feed mills, related work equipment and or areas.
  • Monitors feed supply levels to insure production feed needs are met at all times in relation feed consumption rates.
  • Review KPI performance, and operating reports.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Responsible for ordering ingredients and its timely arrival.
  • Responsible for the completion and organization of the OSHA safe housekeeping documentation.
  • Open to Conference calls or meetings with other locations to share best practices and to help with continuous improvement of our operations.
  • Assist with organizing and coordinating mill improvement projects.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate ingredient and feed inventories, and the associated accounting requirements
  • Maintains a constructive and professional relationship with all vendors and customers.
  • Serves as mill operator during vacations and absences.
  • Maintain adequate communication with management and co-workers.
  • Ensure that mills meet regulatory requirements.
  • Supervises approximately 5 employees within the parameters of the company policies relating to work rules, absenteeism, discipline, payroll, hiring, performance reviews and terminations, while maintaining proper documentation.
  • Responsible for daily employee scheduling, time off, training on safety, emergency evacuations, PPE, Hazcom, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of Grain Handling, Hauling, Storage and Milling
  • Strong organizational and mechanical skills
  • Computer skills required, including MS Excel and Word, SAP or inventory control software experience preferred.
  • The successful completion of Powered Industrial Truck training program and pass the forklift certification.
  • Ability to work in a very dusty environment.
  • PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must have good mechanical ability.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders and climb to 80 feet height.
  • Ability to safely lift 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to work outside during the winter for long periods of time.
  • CDL License (not required, but desirable)
