Attune Foods LLC, a subsidiary of 8th Avenue Food and Provisions, Inc., is proudly located in the Pacific Northwest in beautiful Eugene, Oregon.

The Quality Assurance Technician (QA Tech) is responsible for ensuring food safety and food quality by working in partnership with the shift supervisor. The successful candidate will perform changeover inspections, pre-operational inspections, auditing of in process QC checks, and will train shift personnel on food quality and food safety practices and procedures. The QA Tech will also investigate product holds and determine immediate disposition, where appropriate. Other tasks include investigating customer complaints, conducing facility inspections, completing finished product reviews, and auditing production and sanitation processes.

The ideal candidate will also have strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, time management and organizational skills, will be highly motivated, self-directed and accountable, and will have the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff across the organization.

This position works 4 ten hour shifts per week - We currently have 3rd shift positions available.

Job duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Audit production QC (Quality Control) inspections and data
  • Audit product startup
  • Sign off on first article of production
  • Review production QC (Quality Control) paperwork, and verify that its accurate and complete.
  • Perform in-line product inspection
  • Perform QC checks: Granulation, Moisture, Weights, Fruit Counts, Oxygen/Nitrogen, Bag and Carton Seal Checks, Date Code, and Label Date Code.
  • Conduct regular audits on weight, date and label codes, and glass and brittle plastics.
  • Conduct fruit count on harder items.
  • Conduct sanitation inspections.
  • Conduct ATP and environmental swabbing.
  • Inspect finished goods
  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining Food Safety and Quality programs as it relates to this position.
  • Knowledge of:

  • Eugene products and production processes
  • CFR Title 21 Part 110 (current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in manufacturing, packaging, and holding of Human Food))
  • Food Safety principles as these apply in production, for example. HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point), cGMP, Allergen Control
  • Skill in:

  • Observing physical surrounding with a keen eye towards variance from the ordinary
  • Capability in performing simple mathematical calculations
  • Highly detail oriented in work performance and documentation
  • Organization and time management
  • Diplomacy when interacting with all staff
  • Decision making at stated level of authority
  • Use of SharePoint as document library and action item list
  • Oracle/Discoverer queries for complaint and hold investigations
  • Working in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ensure collaborative relationships Attune Foods Eugene staff.
  • Issue and receive instructions using guidelines.
  • Communicate concerns and escalate decision making to appropriate level of the organization.
  • Work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Model ‘best in class’ behaviors with focus on food safety, quality, security and company policies.
  • Perform sensory evaluations on cereal products, including products containing soy, wheat, and tree nut allergens.
  • Exercise a high degree of good judgment and decision making.
  • Critically think through an issue.
  • Proficiency in: MS Office Suite, Oracle/SAP, and Sharepoint

    Work Environment:

  • Work is done primarily in a production environment which includes noise, dust, moving machinery, forklifts, and fluctuations in temperature.
  • Physical Requirements:

  • Stand, walk, climb stairs on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds on an infrequent basis.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma; college training in math or science preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) plus years in a laboratory or related inspection work
  • Experience in a production/manufacturing environment
