Position Summary:

Our 8th Avenue Extruder Operator works on a variety of equipment within the Processing Department. Responsible for safely operating assigned equipment for daily shift production, meeting all throughput and waste reduction goals. In addition, they will continually keep their work area clean insuring product food safety and preventing product comingling. Work as part of a team proactively providing assistance to other members. Adhere to company policies, procedures, cGMPs, and Rules of Safety

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with various selected processing department functions including: Tote Filling, Flaking Rolls, Mixing – Blending, Oven, Thermoglide, and Coldformer
  • Continually inspect raw materials and finished products to ensure that the product stream stays clean: error free, within specification, food safe and of high quality.
  • Operate equipment to meet or exceed standard scrap and production rates.
  • Set-up machines and change set-ups as required by the production schedule.
  • Communicate ANY hazards on or off the line to the lead immediately
  • Observe operation to detect malfunctions of the machine, report problems to
  • Ensure that reporting and tracking is complete, accurate and timely.
  • Keep work area clean
  • Operate a Fork Lift, motorized pallet jacks, and manual pallet jacks
  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining Food Safety and Quality programs
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Education & Experience Required:

  • 1+ years experience in a fast paced manufacturing production environment
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

    • Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all team members
  • Respect co-workers in actions and communication
  • Ability to relieve any position on the line and work independently at speed
  • Use computers and software
  • Experience operating a forklift, motorized pallet jacks, and manual pallet jacks.
  • ATP Testing certified

    • Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Must be able to bend, crouch, stoop, sit, and kneel for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to balance for 8+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs up to 8+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to climb/work off ladder, and reach above shoulders for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to work in a dusty environment, high heat, or humidity for 8+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, push, pull, and feel for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to lift up-to 55 pounds for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken or written word
  • Must be able to make fine distinctions by sound
  • Must be able to distinguish object or equipment visually
