PNC is part of the Active Nutrition segment and is operated by its own senior leadership team, with publicly traded Post Holdings, Inc. (FY 2018 sales of $6.3 billion) as a parent company acting in a “private equity” capacity. Post Holdings’ Active Nutrition segment is a leader in providing innovative products that support healthy, active lifestyles with over $800 million in sales. Premier Nutrition utilizes a third-party network for manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution. Post Holdings is comprised of the Active Nutrition portfolio, which includes PNC, Dymatize, ­­­and Active Nutrition International (protein bars, shakes and powder products), Post Consumer Brands (cereals), Michael Foods (eggs, potato, cheese, and pasta), Weetabix (cereals), private label business groups, and Bob Evans Farms (a leader in frozen breakfast meats and vegetables).


The Sr. Manager of Category Management’s primary responsibility will be to drive the performance of Premier Nutrition’s brands with a focus on creating and delivering the “Go-To-Market” strategies to ensure the achievement of PNC’s volume and EBITDA targets. The Sr. Manager will own the develop of MAPs (Merchandising, Assortment, Pricing, Shelving guidelines with input from Brand and Sales Strategy. The Sr. Manager will have two (2) direct reports within the Category Management team. This is an HQ position based in Emeryville, CA.



  • Work with internal HQ team to develop “top down” insight driven national selling stories and promotional platforms for existing items and all new commercialization projects.
  • Continually develop Customer and channel insights – including competitive intelligence
  • Collect and synthesize Customer level MAP insights and learnings
  • Execute Sales Strategy “Consensus” meetings, complete agenda, execution and strategic follow up
  • Assist Director with identifying insights that inform sales playbook (MAPS), go-to-market strategies and plans
  • Plan-o-gram development and ownership of Shelving principles of the Market Structure

  • Maintain Sales KPIs and ensure timely reporting
  • Provide forecasting perspective inclusive of but not limited to shipment vs consumption reporting
  • Own monthly syndicated reporting and analysis of business conditions
  • Manage Nielsen / IRI database market structure and category / brand aggregates to ensure integrity and accuracy of data across the organization
  • Develop and maintain a competitive activity / performance tracker inclusive of insights and findings with a strong focus on new competitive entries in our categories

  • Work with assigned Field Sales Teams to ensure brand business plans, category objectives, priorities and strategies are being effectively translated into Customer specific business plans
  • Category Review ownership and customization of New Item sell-in materials to assigned Customer(s)
  • Support Field Sales Teams with ad-hoc Customer needs and analyses and product placement recommendations
  • Attend Key Customer Calls as the Category expert


  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
  • Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in Category Management within the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) Industry
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Skills:

  • Strong Powerpoint and excel skills
  • Team oriented with great ability to build relationships and work cross-functionally
  • Strategic thought leader who can see around corners and anticipate business conditions
  • Ability to excel in dynamic fast paced business environment, demonstrated ability to self-motivate and manage multiple priorities
  • Able to travel up to 20%
