The Role…

Responsible for leading development of new products and/or revitalizing core products, mainly Ready-to-Drink (RTD) formats. Responsible for applying scientific method and logic to the following: formulation, experimental design, lab/pilot plant work, and manufacturing process. Responsible for clearly translating data and knowledge into workstreams to drive product development and commercialization process. This position requires ability to apply principles of food science to solve industry relevant issues and then explain data and scientific principles to business functions.

Product Development:

  • Provide and exercise technical expertise through the development of solutions for new and novel ingredients, product formulations, and undertaking technical and manufacturing challenges.
  • Responsible for execution of all assigned projects and alignment with project scope, brief, processes, business standards and practices. Responsible for product compliance (food safety, ingredient usage, NLEA information, product claims) against internal and external standards (FDA, USDA, and third-party certification) through collaboration with regulatory, QA, marketing and other parties.
  • Ensure successful scale-up to commercial production through collaboration with operations, QA, marketing and external co-mans by aligning on process capabilities and finished product specifications.
  • Lead and provide technical updates on a variety of R&D projects, ensuring alignment throughout the course of project lifecycles.
  • Provides insight and expertise on future product development opportunities for new ingredients, products and processes.
  • Technical Services Support:

  • Provide and/or obtain technical expertise to solve problems on ingredients, formulations, processing, sensory and/or consumer testing.
  • Support for current product line- optimize supply chain for ingredients and manufacturing, provide and implement solutions for cost control/reduction and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for assigned technical services projects and commercialization efforts.
  • Identifies area for continuous improvement and assist in developing and implementing action plans.
  • Job requires a willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction when needed.
  • What are we looking for?:

    Education: BS Food Science, Food Engineering, Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering or similar disciplines.

    Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in the Food industry (CPG) within Food Product Development (dairy protein-based or RTD products)
  • Commercialization (ingredient sourcing and spec development, development of SOPs), and manufacturing experience within in CPG industry
  • Solid understanding of food industry standards for quality and regulatory
  • Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge to solve complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement suitable solutions. Possess curiosity, creativity and alternative thinking to develop new innovative solutions.
  • Being a confident and independent worker with great communication skills. Critical thinking ability to explain complex technical subject matters to non-technical personnel. Communicate technical details to team leaders to drive decision making. Demonstrated presentation skills to ensure understanding at various levels within R&D.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment through excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to excel in dynamic fast paced business environment, demonstrated ability to self-motivate and manage multiple priorities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly about health, safety and hygiene
  • Travel 10-20%
