PNC is part of the Active Nutrition segment and is operated by its own senior leadership team, with publicly traded Post Holdings, Inc. (FY 2018 sales of $6.3 billion) as a parent company acting in a “private equity” capacity. Post Holdings’ Active Nutrition segment is a leader in providing innovative products that support healthy, active lifestyles with over $800 million in sales. Premier Nutrition utilizes a third-party network for manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution. Post Holdings is comprised of the Active Nutrition portfolio, which includes PNC, Dymatize, ­­­and Active Nutrition International (protein bars, shakes and powder products), Post Consumer Brands (cereals), Michael Foods (eggs, potato, cheese, and pasta), Weetabix (cereals), private label business groups, and Bob Evans Farms (a leader in frozen breakfast meats and vegetables).

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Associate Brand Manager, Innovation will be responsible for developing and commercializing Premier Nutrition’s new product strategies and initiatives, primarily in the Ready to Drink, Bars, and Protein Powder categories.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

NEW PRODUCT COMMERCIALIZATION: 60% of TIME

  • Lead development of approved new product concepts from opportunity assessment through launch and through internal stage gate process
  • Develop and test concepts based on consumer insights / market research
  • Sell in new product ideas to Leadership Team
  • Partner with cross functional teams to develop product, packaging, P&Ls, research plan, and go to market plan.
  • Ownership of launch timelines
  • CATEGORY AND CONSUMER TREND ANALYSIS: 20% of TIME

  • Develop a strong instinct for category trends for Ready to Drink beverages, Bars, and Powders through research reports, trade shows, store checks, etc., that feeds into new product ideation and development
  • Partner with Market Insights team to understand consumer insights – develop platforms, products and strategies that are truly consumer driven
  • Test new concept research with consumers to develop best in class products that lead the category in taste
  • Analyze category trends and emerging brands using Nielsen and other internal resources
  • STRATEGIC BRAND SUPPORT: 20% of TIME

  • Oversee innovation budget
  • Lead thinking and development for certain innovation and base brand strategy projects, as necessary
  • Lead strategic product renovation projects as required, or fast to market product concepts
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
  • Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience, with 2+ years of Brand Management experience within the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry; food, beverage, and/or nutrition experience is preferred
  • Commercialization experience with new product launches is required
  • Analytical experience with platforms such as Nielsen, IRI, Mintel, Euromonitor, etc. is required
  • Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and interest in healthy food trends
  • Highly curious & results-driven behavior

  • Self-starter – comfortable ‘figuring it out’
  • Quantitative strength –very comfortable with numbers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
