JOB SUMMARY:

The Food Safety Coordinator maintains the documentation critical for the Quality Systems, HACCP and Food Safety Plans and SQF Programs throughout theChaska, MNfacility. This position is also the back up for the Food Safety Quality Manager and assists with verifying that programs are being executed properly and develops and conducts training programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review, organize and maintain the routine paperwork related to the Quality, Regulatory, SPC, Food Safety / HACCP Plan, Sanitation, SQF Audit, and customer specific documentation.
  • Be an active member of the HACCP / Food Safety team. Perform and co-lead the internal audits program.
  • Monitor and update Corrective Action Database.
  • Assist with developing and conducting training programs for employees related to HACCP, SQF, GMP’s, etc.
  • Review and create SOP’s and SSOP’s working closely with plant quality and sanitation teams.
  • Order supplies and equipment for the Sanitation and FSQ department.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Adhere to all safety polices and procedures.
  • Back up to QA Techs and Food Safety Quality Manager as needed.
  • Required to work off shifts (Sanitation hours), weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION:

    Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

    EXPERIENCE:

    Two (2) years experience in a food processing environment

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers/vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Basic understanding of statistical process control.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

    Examples of licenses, certificates, and registrations required within first 6 months to a year of employment

  • Audit Certification recommended
