QC Technician



Job Details


Position Summary:

The QC Tech is responsible for examination of product to ensure quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications. Requiring a high level of attention to detail, the QC Technician is responsible for strictly adhering to the organization's quality policies, and identifying defects and or production errors in order to prevent these materials from entering the supply chain.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform equipment calibration
• Perform swab test, retain samples, collect microbial test sample and perform lab tests as required
• Conduct pre-op check and routine line checks (labels, package, raw material, coding, sealing, N2, MD/X-ray)
• Review and verify operator check sheets to ensure accuracy of information
• Record filing
• Cover duties of other QC technicians in their absence
• Monitor implementation of GMP and quality related SOP(s) at production floor level; assist with staff training
• Segregate problematic product, according to established policies and procedures
• Assist in customer complaint investigation
• Report any food safety/ quality issue and GMP non-conformance
• Monitor QC supply level and restock supply when needed
• Take responsibility for own performance and complete work in a timely, consistent and accurate manner. Demonstrate reliability and time management through attendance, break times and other related duties
• Other duties, as assigned

Education & Experience Required:

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

• Post-secondary education with a BA in food science preferred
• 2 years’ experience working in a similar role in a food manufacturing setting preferred
• Basic GMP; basic microbiology an asset
• Basic computer skills; Windows MS Office
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing; a second language is an asset
• Must be able to work with chemicals and other cleaning agents
• Able to stand and walk around for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
• Available for rotating shifts including weekends per the production schedule
• Detail-oriented, quick learner, possesses good judgment and interpersonal skills
• An organized problem-solver, able to prioritize effectively
• Ability to learn our business and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment
