Description

Position Summary:

Quality Assurance Technician is responsible to ensure the fast & accurate handling of documents and raw material tests to support the quality team in raw material or finish product verification. This person will have a working knowledge of current North American food safety regulations and GFSI requirements. The position may require work with cross functional teams to ensure that raw material or finished product is inspected and released in time and that non-conforming product disposition is handled in an efficient manner. Ideally, this individual should have previous experience with food processing environment or food testing lab.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct swabbing and other sampling following environmental monitoring program.
  • Review incoming raw material COAs and issue customer COAs.
  • Perform incoming inspection and grading of raw materials on site or in contracted warehouse.
  • Perform lab testing including aflatoxin, ochratoxin and moisture, etc.
  • Handle customer complaints.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and requests.
  • Review supplier approval documents.
  • Review and update GBF specifications
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Report process deviations and product failures and assist in the investigation, RCA and CAPA
  • Maintain QA records in safe, secure and orderly manner
  • Other tasks assigned by the Quality Manager
  • Education & Experience Required:

  • A bachelor degree in science discipline (preferably in Food Science)
  • At least one year of food manufacturing industry experience.
  • Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook, etc.)
  • Good understanding of HACCP, GMP and allergen management
  • Flexibility working in early morning (6 am), weekends and overtime if required
  • Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Experience with GFSI is an asset
  • High level of accuracy and a sense of urgency
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Good oral & written communication skills
