Job Summary:

This position is responsible for directing and coordinating the work of the sanitation crew to ensure that all areas and equipment are cleaned daily. They help maintain a safe and good working environment for the employees. The lead is required to show new employees how to clean an area with the correct cleaning procedures and help clean areas and equipment daily. This is a working position. Hours will be 9:30pm-6am

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To understand and implement all cleaning procedures for the breaking department.
  2. Follow instructions given from Supervisors and communicate with Supervisors on all issues.
  3. Train new employees with the correct cleaning and safety procedures.
  4. Organizing the crew for cleaning the area.
  5. Double check all areas and equipment before the morning pre-op check.
  6. To understand every piece of equipment on the floor-Assembly/Disassembly.
  7. To understand the CIP's and line hook up's.
  8. To have an understanding of all chemicals, first aid procedures and chemical usage.
  9. To foster open communication and teamwork with sanitation crew, maintenance, and production.
  10. To make sure that the working environment is clean and maintained.
  11. To make sure the crew is working as a team.
  12. Ensure that all employees get cross-trained in all areas.
  13. Ensure all sanitation paperwork is properly filled out before the end of the shift.
  14. Help out wherever needed.
  15. To know, understand, and enforce the GMP and Safety policies.
  16. Ability to work around situations that may come up. (People calling in sick or becoming sick, working understaffed).
  17. Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance.
  18. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  19. Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.
  20. May fill in for Area Supervisor, as needed
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

Three to six months sanitation related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Forklift License may be required

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and teaming skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and follow directions with little/no supervision.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and ability to do multi-functional tasks.
  • Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends when required.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish-English) is a plus.
